FOLDER PROJECT

First and foremost, I gave my folder to Monica Belfatti, my teacher in the Graduate School of Education.

I think my folder is likely to reach my target, Susan Yoon, because the second person that was given my folder said she would give it to her. Monica is obviously a female and is a part-time teacher in the GSE and has been at Penn for the past three years. Because the GSE is rather small I thought there would be a decent chance that Monica knew Susan personally, but she did not. She thought she might have an idea as to who Susan was, but decided she would pass it along to the woman she co-teachers my class with. Luckily the school is pretty close knit and the teachers seem to communicate a lot with one another.

The first person to receive my folder was already in the same building as my target and knew someone who knew her so I think these factors will definitely help in getting my folder to Susan. The strength of my relationship with Monica will probably be the factor most likely to steer me wrong. I have only had her as my teacher for three weeks now and our class only meets once a week. Because I am the only undergraduate in the class I have had to meet with her outside of class to ask her questions and from that I have gotten to know her on a more personal level, but still the longevity, the importance, and the depth of our relationship are not very promising.

Monica is a very friendly person whom I would think would make it easy for her to have many friends or acquaintances in the school. But I did see that Monica gave the folder to the other teacher in the room. Diane too is extremely friendly and seems very extroverted. Although I have only known them both for a short period of time, they are teachers and are used to giving students projects and I’m sure they like to see their students succeed. Having them know that this is for a project, I’m sure they both would care enough to participate. They are both only part-time faculty, but luckily I caught them on Monday, a day when they are both at Penn for the majority of the day. I know little about their actual popularity at the school, but know they both teach a variety of classes and I know that Diane is at least an acquaintance of Susan’s so my folder has a greater chance of getting there than having left it with a friend who knows nothing about Susan.

I think my folder will have made it to Susan after passing through only Monica and Diane, or maybe through one additional person. Diane wasn’t sure if she was going to give it directly to Susan or someone else on her floor. My folder is a little different because I saw the first pass off which takes a lot of guess work out of the equation. I’m expecting that if the folder was passed off to a third person before Susan that this person too will have been a female because a majority of the teachers in the Education school are female. I’m also fairly confidant that my folder will not have ventured outside the GSE. I think that if Diane did not pass the folder on to Susan directly, then she will have passed it onto her supervisor (mainly because that is what she told me she was planning on doing) and then that person will have some seniority probably over Susan as well. I’m guessing that person who hands my folder over will be either her supervisor or co-worker. This is hypothesized almost unfairly because this is what Diane pretty much told me she was going to do.

I think my folder will go through two people besides myself before making it to Susan. I think it will have made it to her within three hours from when I first passed it along.
